NGC 1369 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 58 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 25,000 ly. It is listed as a member of the Fornax galaxy cluster under the catalog designation FCC 176 .
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1365 , NGC 1386 , NGC 1387 , NGC 1389 , among others .
The object was discovered by Julius Schmidt on January 19, 1865 .
