NGC 1338 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 108 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by Edouard Stephan on December 15, 1884 and later listed in the New General Catalog by Johann Dreyer .
