NGC 1315 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0-a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 68 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 13, 1835 and later listed in the New General Catalog by Johann Dreyer .
