NGC 1304 = NGC 1307 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 176 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 1314 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 5, 1785 .
