NGC 1303 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 243 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1285 and NGC 1286 .
The object was discovered by Heinrich d'Arrest on October 28, 1865.
