NGC 1336 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 58 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly. Under catalog number FCC 47 , it is classified as a member of the Fornax Galaxy Clusters.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1326 and NGC 1351 .
The object was discovered on October 22, 1835 by the astronomer John Herschel .
