Ailén Armada (born October 3, 1998 ) is an Argentine discus thrower and shot putter .

Athletic career

Ailén Armada gained her first experience in international competitions in 2014 at the Youth South American Championships in Cali , where she won the gold medal in the discus throw with 42.60 m and took sixth place in the shot put with 13.61 m. In the following year she also reached sixth place with the discus at the youth world championships there with 48.67 m, as well as at the U20 world championships in 2016 in Bydgoszcz with 52.53 m. Then she won the silver medal in the discus competition at the U23 South American Championships in Lima with 51.24 m and was fourth in the shot put with 14.14 m. In 2017 she won the U20 South American Championships in Leonora with 14.34 m and 47.43 m in both competitions, before she came in sixth with the ball with 13.79 m and with 53.60 m at the South American Championships in Luque discus five. Then she was at the Pan American Junior Championships in Trujillo with 50.34 m fifth in the discus throw and finished seventh in the shot put with 13.76 m. In addition, she took part in the Summer Universiade in Taipei for the first time with the discus , where she was eliminated from the qualification with 49.54 m. In 2018 she won the bronze medal in the discus throw at the South American Games in Cochabamba with 48.77 m behind the two Brazilians Andressa de Morais and Fernanda Martins . Then she won the U23 South American Championships in Cuenca with 54.40 m in the discus competition and won the silver medal in the shot put with 15.58 m.

In 2019 she won the bronze medal at the South American Championships in Lima with 56.55 m, again behind the two Brazilians de Morais and Martins and then finished seventh at the World Student Games in Naples with 54.61 m. In August, she finished eleventh at the Pan American Games in Lima with 51.30 m.

In 2018 and 2019, Ailén became the Argentine champion in the shot put and discus throw.
