the accident

Air traffic control gave the Boeing crew the instruction to fly on holding patterns. Shortly afterwards the machine flew into low-hanging clouds. While holding patterns were flown with the machine, it suddenly struck a coconut tree at an altitude of 500 feet above sea level , with part of the wing breaking off. The pilots tried to give full thrust, but could no longer avert a collision with the terrain. The machine crashed a few kilometers west of the airport in a coconut grove.
