The Academic Alpine Club Bern ( AACB ) is an academic mountain association in Bern .
Activities and history
In 1910 the AACB had 35 members. He took over the Bietschhornhütte and the members had visited a total of 380 peaks and passes in the Swiss Alps and in the Caucasus , including 93 ski tours.
On November 26, 1924, the Swiss Academic Ski Club (SAS) was founded by AACB members Willy Richardet, Walter Amstutz and Hermann Gurtner.
Originally the club consisted exclusively of academics, but non-academics have also been accepted for many years. Women have been able to become members since 1984.
The club promotes alpinism and mountain sports and cultivates friendship. He conducts mountain, ski and climbing tours and courses, participates in the construction and maintenance of club huts, concludes discount agreements with other Alpine organizations (reciprocal legal relationship) and organizes social gatherings (lecture evenings, parties).
Huts
The AACB has three huts.
Belonging and reciprocity
The AACB belongs to the Fédération des Club Alpin Académiques de Suisse (FCAAS), which in turn is represented in the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA). With this connection , he is on an equal footing with members of other Alpine associations and his members enjoy the right to reduced taxes. In return, he grants members of the other alpine clubs reduced overnight rates in his huts.
