The Schmadrihütte , also called the hut at the Schmadribrunnen , is an unguarded mountain hut belonging to the Academic Alpine Club Bern (AACB) in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . It is located southwest of Stechelberg and northwest of the Grosshorn at 2262  m above sea level. M. below a rock ridge between the lateral moraines of the Breithorn and Schmadrig glaciers.

Promotion opportunities

Both variants of the ascent start in Stechelberg ( 910  m ) and are continuously marked. The two ascent trails branch off above Trachsellauenen ( 1202  m ). The shorter path, which takes about 3½ hours to get to the hut, runs over the Schwand alpine huts and then reaches the Schmadribach just above the Schmadribach falls . The ascent over the Berghotel Obersteinberg ( 1778  m ) and then past the Oberhornsee takes about an hour longer .

Ascents and crossings

The hut is a suitable starting point for ascent of the Breithorn ( 3780  m ), the Grosshorn ( 3754  m ), the Tschingelhorn ( 3562  m ) or the Mittaghorn ( 3892  m ). It is also possible to cross over the Gamchilücke ( 2852  m ) and the ascent to the Mutthornhütte .
