The Academic Association Hut e. V. is a non-profit association in Berlin . It was founded in Berlin in 1846 and briefly called Die Hütte , from around 1864 just called the hut . He has been publishing the engineering book of the same name since 1857. The purpose of the corporation is to promote science and the education and training of students, particularly in the field of engineering and student aid. Students from all disciplines can be members. The association publishes engineering books. The most famous work hut - the engineering knowledge is also called the basic hut .

history

May 16, 1846 is the day the association was founded. Until it was renamed “Hut” on December 11, 1847, it was still called the Association of Students of the Royal Prussian Industrial Institute , the predecessor of the TU Berlin . However, the name has no direct connection to mining and metallurgy . After some initial difficulties, the club had reached in 1853 a number of 120-150 members. It was at this point that they began to collect engineering drawings.

Members of the hut founded the Association of German Engineers (VDI) in Alexisbad in 1856 .

The hut has been the publisher of technical and scientific handbooks since 1857 , in particular the hut paperbacks of the textbook of the same name, hut - Das Ingenieurwissen (34th edition, December 2012) , which have been translated into many languages .

On the occasion of the 75th foundation festival of the AV Hütte Berlin in 1921 in Wernigerode, the AV Hütte Berlin, AV Hütte Stuttgart and AV Darmstadt founded the Wernigeroder Verband (WV). In 1933 the two associations of non-colored corporations, the Black Ring (SR) and the Wernigeroder Association (WV), merged in the Wernigeroder Black Ring (WSR), to which a total of 15 corporations at technical colleges and universities belonged. The AV Hütte has developed over the years into a non-profit association with a connection character. Therefore, in contrast to many other non-striking , non- colored , apolitical and non-denominational student associations , the “hut” no longer belongs to a higher-level umbrella organization.

In addition to Aktivitas in Berlin, there has also been an Aktivitas in Karlsruhe since 1948 . As a result of the 1968 student movement , women have also been admitted since the mid-1970s. Today the association maintains club houses with student apartments in Berlin-Charlottenburg , Berlin- Spandau and Karlsruhe .

The hut maintains friendly contacts with the Stuttgart Hut Academic Association , but both associations are independent of each other.

In Berlin, the hut also has an active water sports department. a. the traditional ship Salamander VI ( 45 national cruiser from 1923) sails and maintains.
