Right tributaries Hunt River

The Akillik River is a 55 km long right tributary of the Kobuk River in western Alaska .

Its source is on the southern flank of the Baird Mountains , a mountain range of the Brooks Range , in the northeast of the Kobuk Valley National Park near the border with the Noatak National Preserve . It flows on the upper reaches first in an easterly, then in a south-westerly direction and flows 71 km north-west of Shungnak into the Kobuk River, which flows over the Kotzebue Sound to the Chukchi Sea , a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean . The Hunt River flows into the Akillik River on the right side about 5 km above the confluence.
