The Akita-Yake-yama ( Japanese 秋田 焼 山 , dt. Burning mountain in Akita ) is a 1,366 m high active stratovolcano on the Japanese island of Honshū . It belongs to the Ōu Mountains and is located in the urban area of Kazuno and Semboku in Akita Prefecture . It is one of many volcanoes with the Japanese name Yake-yama (Burning Mountain). The last outbreak occurred in 1997.
