Akron is a statutory town in the northeastern part of the US state Colorado - about 180 km northeast of Denver in the Great Plains . It was promoted to city on September 22, 1887 and is now the county seat of Washington County . In 2010 the place had 1702 inhabitants.

The county's most populous settlement is at the intersection of US Highway 34 and Colorado State Highway 63 . The geographical coordinates of the intersection are 40 ° 10 ' N , 103 ° 13' W .
According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has an area of 3.8 [[km 2 ]], all of which is land.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Akron lived in 1711 people. The population density was 1179.3 people per km 2 . There were 835 housing units, an average of 455.6 per km 2 . The population of Akron was 93.51% White , 0.12% Black or African American , 1.23% Native American , 1.12% Asian , 0.06% Pacific Islander , 4.32% of other races belong to and 0.64% named two or more races. 11.75% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Akrons distributed to 734 households out of which 29.3% had children under 18 years of age. 50.8% of households were married, 9.4% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 37.7% were not families. 33.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 16.8% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.94.
The urban population was divided into 26.2% minors, 6.3% 18–24 year olds, 23.4% 25–44 year olds, 21.0% 45–64 year olds and 23.1% aged 65 and over or more. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 women there were 97.3 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 89.8 men.
