Akter Liza Shamima (born October 26, 1989 ) is a Bangladeshi chess player .

Life

She won the Bangladeshi 26th individual women's championship in 2005 in Dhaka by two points. She won the Prime Bank Rating Tournament in Dhaka in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012. The Prime Bank tournaments were announced as international tournaments, but only women from Bangladesh took part. Akter Liza Shamima was again women champion of Bangladesh in 2010 in Narayanganj and 2012 in Dhaka. She won the zone tournament in Colombo in February 2013. For her second place in the zone tournament 2011 in Colombo, which Sachini Ranasinghe won, Akter Liza Shamima received the title of International Women's Champion (WIM).

Her Elo rating is 2114 (as of December 2018), making her the top Elo ranking for women in Bangladesh. She reached her highest rating of 2207 in December 2017.

National team

With the women's team of Bangladesh, Shamima took part in the 2008 , 2010 and 2014 Chess Olympiads . She also played at the Asian Games in Doha in 2006 on the Bangladesh Women's Board and in the women's team at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou .
