al-Hudud asch- schamaliyya [ ælħuˈduːd æʃːæmæːˈliːjæ ] ( Arabic الحدود الشمالية, DMG al-Ḥudūd aš-Šamālīya 'the northern border') is a province in Saudi Arabia . The province has an area of 111,797 square kilometers and 367,433 inhabitants (as of 2015). The capital is ʿArʿar . The province is located in the north of Saudi Arabia on the border with Iraq and Jordan . Neighboring provinces in Saudi Arabia are al-Sharqiyya , al-Qasim , Ha'il and al-Jauf .
Al-Hudud asch-schamaliyya is divided into three governorates ( muḥāfaẓāt ): ʿArʿar, Rafhaʿ and Turaif.
