Al Overton
Alfred J. "Al" Overton (born May 20, 1912 in Connecticut , † August 1, 1985 in San Clemente , California ) was an American sound engineer .
Life
Overton began his career in the mid-1950s, initially working on numerous B-movies and occasionally for television. Among other things, he was involved in four Jerry Lewis comedies and the television series Fury and Invasion of Vega . 1972 Overton was nominated together with Gordon K. McCallum and John W. Mitchell for the Oscar in the category Best Sound , but could not win the award.
Overton died in 1985 at the age of 73. His last film work, the horror film Poltergeist II - The Other Side , appeared posthumously . Overton's son Al Overton Jr. also worked as a sound engineer. He was nominated four times for an Oscar in the Best Sound category, but, like his father, never received the award.
