Alabama Thunderpussy (ATP) was an American metal band from Richmond .
history
Alabama Thunderpussy was founded in 1996 by Bryan Cox, Erik Larson and Asechiah Bogdan. After a few live appearances, the band was supplemented by Bill Storms and Johnny Throckmorton, so that in 1997 the recordings for a first demo could be started. Through this they received a contract with Man's Ruin Records , where their debut album Rise Again was released in 1998 .
Just under a year later, the second album River City Revival was released , which was advertised with a tour through the southern states of the USA. After returning, recording began in the fall of 1999 for the third album Constellation , which was released in the spring of 2000, followed by Staring at the Divine in 2002.
In 2002 ATP switched to the Relapse Records label . Shortly thereafter, singer Throckmorton left the band and was replaced by Johnny Weils. On May 24, 2004, Fulton Hill was released.
For reasons not mentioned, the collaboration with Johnny Weils was ended in the spring of 2006. Exhorder singer Kyle Thomas joined the band for him . Mikey B played bass instead of John Peters.
On March 9, 2007 the current album Open Fire was released , which is limited to 1000 copies in colored vinyl .
The band broke up in September 2008 after their singer quit and it was otherwise pretty quiet around them.
