Alain Clark (born June 4, 1979 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch singer and music producer . Clark achieved his musical breakthrough in 2007 with his first English-language album Live It Out , which was placed in the Dutch charts for more than a year .

biography

Alain Clark was born in Haarlem and grew up in the seaside resort of Zandvoort . Through his father Dane Clark, the singer of the soul band Dane and the Dukes of Soul , Alain Clark came into contact with the music business at an early age.

In the early 2000s, Clark tried to start a career as a singer and songwriter in Los Angeles , but returned to the Netherlands after three years without a record deal . In Amsterdam , Clark produced his debut album Alain Clark , released in spring 2004 ; the single Heerlijk earned him his first chart placement.

In the same year, Clark was also active as a producer for other artists, such as the debut album by Boris Titulaer , the winner of the casting show Idols . As one of the best new talents, Alain Clark was awarded the Zilveren Harp Music Prize in 2004. In 2005 Clark participated in the charity project Artiesten voor Azië .

In early 2007, Clark recorded his second album Live It Out in Los Angeles , on which drummer Steve Gadd played. The album, held in the style of the Motown soul, reached number 2 in the Dutch charts and stayed in place for a year and a half. Released on the independent label 8ball Records , the album achieved double platinum status and became the best-selling album in the Netherlands in recent years. Several singles were released in the top ten of the Dutch charts.

The great success of Live It Out in his home country secured Clark an international record deal with Warner Music in 2008 . The single Father & Friend , a duet between Alain Clark and his father, was released throughout Europe in spring 2009 and included in the rotation of several radio and music stations.
