Alain Digbeu (born November 13,  1975 in Mâcon ) is a former French basketball player .

career

Digbeu grew up in Lyon  in 1980 , played basketball in Vénissieux  and moved to ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne in 1991 . In 1993, the 1.95 meter tall, extremely powerful winger made his debut in the professional ASVEL team in the Ligue Nationale de Basket . There he quickly developed into a regular player. In 1996, 1997 and 1999 he was French runner-up with ASVEL and cup winners in 1996 and 1997. Digbeu reached his career high in the league in the 1997/98 season when he scored 13.7 points per match. In 1997 the Atlanta Hawks secured the rights to the French  in the draft process (second round, 50th place), but he did not succeed in making the leap into the North American league during his career.

From 1999 to 2000 Digbeu was under contract with FC Barcelona . With Barca he was the Spanish runner-up in 2000 and champion and cup winner in 2001. In the 2000/01 championship season he recorded 7.4 points per encounter, which was also his best value of his three years in Barcelona.

In 2002/03 Digbeu played for Real Madrid and in 2003/04 for Joventut de Badalona . He moved to Italy  and played in the 2004/05 season for Casti Group Varese (34 games: 14.4 points / game) before he was on the field for Etosa Alicante in Spain in the final phase of the season. He then stayed in Alicante until 2006.

In 2006/07 Digbeu strengthened the Italian team Climamio Bologna . He then played briefly for Kavala in Greece , but moved to the Spanish second division Alicante Costa Blanca in the 2007/08 season. In 2008/09 he played for Pau-Orthez in his home country. From 2009 to 2010, Digbeu was under contract at SIG Strasbourg at the end of his career .

Digbeu settled in Istanbul after his career and worked as a basketball expert for the television channel Lig TV . He also worked for the NBA team Atlanta Hawks as a talent scout. In 2017 he took on this role for the Houston Rockets .

Digbeus younger sister Jennifer was a national basketball player. His son Tom  also became a professional basketball player.

National team

Digbeu took part with France's national team at the European Championships in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005. He came to a total of 91 internationals.
