Alain Penz (born October 30, 1947 in Sallanches ) is a former French ski racer .

biography

In the Ski World Cup , Penz won five races (four slaloms and one giant slalom ). In the 1968/69 season and in the 1969/70 season he was fifth overall. In addition, he won the Slalom World Cup in 1969/70, tied with Patrick Russel and Henri Bréchu .

He was less successful at the Olympic Games: in 1968 he finished eighth in the slalom and in 1972 ninth in the giant slalom. He never won a medal at world championships either, at the 1970 World Ski Championships he finished fifth in slalom and ninth in giant slalom.

From 1969 to 1972 Penz was French champion seven times (three times in the combination and twice each in slalom and giant slalom). At the end of the 1971/72 season, he resigned from ski racing.
