Origin and meaning
The origin of the name is controversial, possibly it is of Celtic - Breton origin meaning "small rock", "handsome, stately" or "warrior"; in Turkmen it means purple or striking / preferred. See also Alanalp. According to another theory, the name means "from the people of the Alans ".
