Alan Pauls (2011)

Alan Pauls (born April 29, 1959 in Colegiales , Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine journalist and writer.

Life

Alan Pauls studied a. a. Literature studies at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) and was able to successfully complete this degree. He then began to write for the daily newspapers “ La Nación ” and “ Página / 12 ” and also became editor there for some time.

Pauls later accepted a position at the UBA and has been teaching literary history there ever since . In 1984 he made his successful debut with his novel “El pudor del pornográfo” and a literary oeuvre has been created that has been highly praised by literary critics and audiences alike. In September 2010 Pauls was a guest at the Berlin International Literature Festival .

Pauls lives in Buenos Aires with his wife and daughter.

  • 2003: Premio Herralde de Novela for the novel "El pasado"

Film adaptations

  • The director Héctor Babenco brought Pauls' novel "El pasado" into cinemas under the same title in 2007.
