Alastair Gray (born June 22, 1998 in Twickenham , London ) is a British tennis player from England .

Career

Gray played on the ITF Junior Tour until 2016 and took part in a Grand Slam tournament there twice . Both times he was eliminated in singles and doubles in the first round. In October 2016, he was the highest in the junior rankings at 52nd place. Through individual participation in professional tournaments of the third-class ITF Future Tour , he also placed in the world rankings for the first time in 2016 .

In 2016, the Briton began studying at Texas Christian University . There he also joined the college team for college tennis in his sophomore year and has a 14: 9 record. After he tore his meniscus in 2018, he first had to take a long break and could not use the wildcard granted to him for his first participation in an ATP tournament for the Hall of Fame Open . In 2019 he played tennis again and reached a future semi-final in singles for the first time; in doubles he won the same tournament. At the Hall of Fame Open 2019 , Gray finally received a wildcard because of his injury the previous year and played on his debut on the ATP Tour in the main draw against Kamil Majchrzak , against whom he lost 3: 6, 4: 6 in two sets. He is currently back in the world rankings.
