The Albatros WMZ is a German biplane on floats that was used by the Imperial Navy before the First World War .

construction

Wings

The wing outline is rectangular. With the same wing depth, the wingspan of the upper wing is larger. The spars and ribs are made of wood. The covering is made of fabric.

hull

The fuselage consists of two lattice girders with wooden straps and vertical struts. The lattice girder is connected to the rear inner struts on the wings. The fuselage carries the horizontal stabilizer and the rudder at the end. The elevator is in front of the wings. The crew sits in a disguised gondola.

Tail unit

The front elevator is aerodynamically balanced and is moved directly from the control lever via control cables. At the top of the rear box stabilizer is an unbalanced elevator that is connected to the front elevator. There are two rudders on the end posts of the lattice girders. The upper wing has triple ailerons and the lower wing double ailerons. All oars and fins are made of wood with a fabric covering. The height and aileron controls are carried out with control levers. The rudders are operated with a foot lever. The trimming is done using a hand wheel.

Undercarriage and floating gear

There are two stepless main floats with a rectangular cross-section. In addition, there is a swimmer under the horizontal stabilizer. There is a pull-up two-wheeled undercarriage on each main float. The first tests were carried out without a swimmer with a normal wheeled chassis.
