Albert Bertalan

Albert Bertalan (born September 21, 1899 in Jászberény , † December 28, 1957 in Paris ) was a Hungarian - French painter from the École de Paris .

Life

The artist Jenő Frim gave him his first painting lessons . He then studied at the Free Art School of Károly Kernstok and then under Adolf Fényes in Szolnok . From 1924 he briefly attended the Académie Julian in Paris .

A short time later he had his first success, namely an exhibition in the renowned Bernheim-Jeune gallery in 1925 . In the same year he made a study trip to the artist colony of Baia Mare , where he a. a. the open-air painting dedicated. This stay is characterized by the collaboration with the painters Béla Iványi-Grünwald and István Réti . The award of the Pál Szinyei Merse Society (Szinyei Merse Pál Társaság) confirms that 1926 was a year of success for Albert Bertalan .

From now on his works were exhibited in the most important Parisian salons. Presumably the exhibition successes prompted the artist to settle in Paris in 1929. A year earlier he joined the New Artists Association (Új Művészek Egyesülete) .
