Károly Kernstok
Károly Kernstok ( Kernstok Károly ) (born December 23, 1873 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary , † June 9, 1940 ibid) was a Hungarian modern painter.
Life
Kernstok was trained in Budapest, then went first to Munich and Paris , and finally returned to Budapest.
In 1907 he founded the artist group " Nyolcak " with Róbert Berény , Dezső Czigány , Béla Czóbel , Ödön Márffy , Dezső Orbán , Bertalan Pór and Lajos Tihanyi and took part in exhibitions of the Hungarian Society of Impressionists and Naturalists KöÉNK (Magyarreészionisták) Naturalists. In 1919 he made a name for himself as a supporter of the Hungarian Soviet Republic and therefore had to flee to Berlin . In 1926 he returned home ( Nyergesújfalu ). Now he also visited the Szolnok artists' colony several times .
Exhibitions of his works of art took place in 1911 (Művészházban), 1917 (Ernst Múzeum), 1922 (Kassai Múzeum), 1928 (Ernst Múzeum) and 1951 (Fővárosi Népművelési Központ, Emlékkiállítás).
