Albert Dietrich (physician)

Albert Dietrich (born March 4, 1873 in Schweidnitz , Province of Silesia , † September 1, 1961 in Stuttgart ) was a German pathologist .

Life

Albert Dietrich, a graduate of medicine , received a professorship for pathology at the University of Tübingen in 1906 after years as an assistant and subsequent habilitation in pathology . In 1916 he switched to the same professorship at the University of Cologne until he took over the chair of pathology in Tübingen in 1928. In addition, he officiated there in the academic years 1933 and 1934 as rector. Dietrich, editor of the Zeitschrift für Krebsforschung from 1933 to 1944 , chairman of the German Central Committee for Combating Cancer and Cancer Research from 1951 to 1955, was one of the first doctors to be honored with the Paracelsus Medal in 1952 for his services to cancer research .

Albert Dietrich - he dealt scientifically with the fields of pathological anatomy, experimental pathology and microbiology - focused his work on research into malignant tumors , infectious diseases and thrombosis .

Dietrich was a member of the old gymnastics club Palatia Tübingen. In 1936 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
