Albert Eugen Adam

Albert Eugen von Adam (born November 17, 1855 in Ulm ; † March 13, 1921 ) was a German archivist and librarian. For many years he was archivist in the state parliament as well as government director and librarian of the State Library in Stuttgart .

Life

Albert Eugen Adam was a son of the politician and entrepreneur Philipp Ludwig Adam and his wife Emilie, geb. Sick. He attended grammar school in his hometown of Ulm and studied law in Munich and Tübingen, where he received his doctorate in 1883. In 1886 he married the manufacturer's daughter Anna, b. Lamperter. The marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters.

From 1879 Adam worked for the Ständisches Archiv in Stuttgart , initially as a laborer. In 1891 he was appointed archivist and board member, and from 1897 he was also appointed librarian. In 1920 he retired.

Adam was also active in historical research in Württemberg. For years he organized the archives of the Altwuerttemberg landscape.

He was awarded the Cross of Honor of the Order of the Württemberg Crown , combined with an elevation into the staff nobility .
