Albert Fiege

Albert Fiege (born August 6, 1921 in Glashütte , † July 16, 2016 in Hann. Münden ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from primary school, Fiege attended the union and community college . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as an officer. He was wounded and damaged in the war. He was a co-founder of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) in Hannoversch Münden and initially also worked on a voluntary basis. From 1952 he worked as a union employee and in 1957 became chairman of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) in Hann. Münden . Fiege was chairman of the work and life working group in the Münden district .

After the dissolution of this district, employee of the German Federation of Trade Unions in the district of Göttingen. Fiege became a member of the supervisory board of the Lower Saxony regional company and the supervisory board of Braunschweigische Wiederaufbau.

Albert Fiege is married and has five children.

Fiege joined the SPD in 1950 and in 1956 became deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district of Göttingen . He had been a member of the Münden district council since 1960 and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there. Between 1956 and 1973 he was a member of the district council of the Münden district and parliamentary group leader of his party. In 1973 he was elected to the district council of the new district of Göttingen . From June 6, 1967 to June 20, 1978 (6th to 8th electoral term) he was elected member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the constituency of Münden . At the end of the 1980s he was mayor of the city of Hannoversch Münden .

Honors

In July 1973 Albert Fiege was awarded the Order of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and in November 1987 the Order of Merit 1st Class of the State of Lower Saxony .
