Albert Gemoll

Albert Eduard August Gemoll (born August 17, 1847 in Arnswalde , Neumark , † July 22, 1921 in Striegau ) was a German high school teacher and classical philologist .

Albert Gemoll, older brother of the classical philologist Wilhelm Gemoll , attended high school in Pyritz and studied philology at the University of Berlin from 1867 . He received his doctorate there on December 24, 1870, and in 1871 he passed the state examination. From 1872 he taught at grammar schools in Lower Silesia , first in Jauer , from 1873 in Wohlau , since 1884 as the director of the Progymnasium in Striegau , which became the Realgymnasium in 1907, following his brother . He published lively on philological and school issues. He retired on October 1, 1918. He also worked as a playwright.

His estate is in the Berlin State Library .
