Musician and composer

Later on on his art trips to Savoy , the Bernese Oberland , the Valais and, above all, the Nikolaital , he always carried his violin with him in addition to paints and brushes. The versatile artist played, varied and improvised together with the local musicians alpine tunes for the locals and the holiday guests. He wrote down a large number of these alpine dance pieces, which have been preserved for posterity. Albert Gos also composed melodies himself.
painter
Several years after Alexandre Calame's death, Albert Gos was asked by his widow to make music with her in the unchanged studio of the late Swiss painter. The discovery of Calame's pictures led Albert Gos to embark on a second career as a painter , studying for a semester with Barthélemy Menn . As an admirer of the high mountains, he became, to a certain extent, the “court painter” of the Matterhorn .
He has been awarded several prizes. In 1880 (before Ferdinand Hodler ) he won the first Diday Prize and in 1887 (again before Hodler) the Calame Prize. His works were shown at important events, for example at the Royal Academy in London in 1880 and at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 , where he won a medal.
