Albert Held (born January 1, 1865 in Villeneuve ; † December 27, 1960 in Le Châtelard , originally from Bavaria , later entitled to live in Le Châtelard) was a Swiss entrepreneur .

Life

Albert Held was born on January 1, 1865 in Villeneuve as the son of the carpenter Georges Held and the governess Antonie, born Reichstadt, who both immigrated from the Würzburg region . Albert Held had been employed in his father's carpentry shop founded in Villeneuve in 1864 since 1881.

In 1898 he opened his own carpentry, namely the "Menuiserie Modèle" in Montreux , whose machines were electrically powered. Appreciated for the quality of his work, the hotelier Ami Chessex became aware of Held, which laid the foundation for his participation in most of the hotel buildings on the Vaudois Riviera . In Lausanne and Geneva , Albert Held worked with renowned architects from western Switzerland , especially in the 1930s . In addition, Held was a member of the legislature between 1906 and 1925 in the municipal council of Le Châtelard.

He was married to Louise, born Serex-Burger, since 1892. Albert Held died on December 27, 1960 five days before he would turn 96 in Le Châtelard.
