Albert Jull (born December 6, 1864 in Fort Erie , Ontario , Canada , † September 24, 1940 in Waipawa , New Zealand ) was a New Zealand politician of the Liberal Party , the United Party and from 1938 the National Party .

Jull was 1864 in Fort Erie in southern Ontario ( Canada born). He attended several public schools in Brantford .

Living in New Zealand

In 1877 he emigrated to New Zealand with his parents . In 1881 he moved to Waipawa . He worked as a warehouse manager for several years and then worked in the brewing industry. He was chairman of Waipawa County Council and was elected chairman of the New Zealand Counties Association in 1901 . For several years he was chairman of the Waipawa Town Board and the District Hospital Board, and in 1894 he became chairman of the New Zealand Fire Brigades' Association .

Jull was an avid Oddfellow . He was Past Provincial Grand Master of Hawke's Bay District and represented the district at the 1906 session in Nelson . For 20 years he was chairman of the Napier Harbor Board until he stepped down from that office in 1932.

Political activity

In the general election of 1911 he ran as a Liberal in the constituency of Waipawa ( Hawke's Bay region ) and came second after George Hunter . In the parliamentary elections in 1914 and in 1919 he was also runner-up. In the parliamentary elections in 1922 ran as a non-party in the constituency of Napier and came third.

Jull represented the Waipawa constituency from the 1930 by-election after the death of George Hunter.

He was defeated by Hubert Christie ( Labor ) in the 1935 general election. In 1938 he regained Christie's seat, which he held until his death.

Jull died unexpectedly on September 24, 1940 in Waipawa.
