Albert Lütkemeyer

Albert Lütkemeyer (born June 17, 1911 in Wellingholzhausen , † June 26, 1947 in Hameln ) was a German SS-Hauptsturmführer and protective custody camp leader in Neuengamme concentration camp .

Life

Albert Lütkemeyer, a member of the NSDAP since 1933 and the SS in 1934, was a member of the guards of the Esterwegen concentration camp from 1934 and of the Dachau concentration camp from 1936 . In the course of the construction of the Neuengamme concentration camp , Lütkemeyer came to Hamburg-Neuengamme in April 1940, accompanied by the future camp commandant Martin Gottfried Weiß . Initially, he acted there as report leader and second protective custody camp leader and in October 1942 replaced Wilhelm Schitli as first protective custody camp leader. Lütkemeyer, who also personally participated in the abuse of prisoners, was relieved of this position by Anton Thumann in April 1944 and was then camp manager of a sub-camp of the Groß-Rosen concentration camp ( Riese labor camp in the Eulengebirge ). After the end of the war he was arrested and charged with participating in crimes in the Neuengamme concentration camp in the 8th Neuengamme trial. Lütkemeyer was to death by the strand convicted and June 26, 1947 prison Hameln executed .
