Albert Müry

Albert Louis Ernst Müry (born October 19, 1910 in Basel ; † April 28, 2005 there ) was a Swiss musicologist and journalist .

Müry received his doctorate in 1940 from the University of Basel with a thesis on the instrumental works of Gaetano Pugnani . Hans Ehinger and Albert Oeri introduced him to journalism. In 1956 he became night editor of the Basler Nachrichten , for which he headed the sports department in 1960 and the music department from 1966 to 1977 . He then worked as a freelance journalist for the Aargauer Tagblatt , the Basellandschaftliche Zeitung and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , among others .

Müry dealt in his writings particularly with Felix Weingartner , whose estate he arranged in the University Library of Basel .
