Toni Puszamszies (born August 14, 1958 in Oberhausen ; † March 20, 2013 there ) was a German football player and coach .

Player career

In his youth, Puszamszies played for Blau-Weiß Oberhausen and Hamborn 07 . In 1982 he moved to Bayer 05 Uerdingen . In 1982 he played for the first time in the Uerdingen A-team in the 2nd Bundesliga . He became a regular player immediately, played 26 times and scored six goals; Bayer Uerdingen rose this season. After two first division games and one goal, the midfielder moved to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on loan in October 1983 , where he stayed until the end of the season. For Oberhausen he played seven games and scored one goal. For the 1984/85 season he returned to Uerdingen , but could not prevail in the 1st Bundesliga . He only played eleven other games, but won the DFB Cup .

For the 1985/86 season he moved to the second division MSV Duisburg . After 18 games and one goal, Duisburg was relegated to the Oberliga Nordrhein , but Puszamszies remained loyal to the club, and so he rose with the club in the 1988/89 season . During his time at MSV, Toni Puszamszies became a regular player and played 35 times in two seasons in the 2nd division and was promoted again to the Bundesliga. After 23 games and one goal, he left the professional team when Willibert Kremer was replaced by Uwe Reinders in 1992 and Uwe Reinders no longer accepted his situation as a warehouse manager, and played in the second team for a year before he ended his career.

Coaching career

In 1994 he started as a coach of his youth club Blau-Weiß Oberhausen . Then he went to his other youth club Hamborn 07, which he looked after until the end of 1999. During this time he was through in the ARD telecast private television presence broadcast reports of his team many times on television. In 2002 Puszamszies took over the first team from Blau-Weiß Oberhausen. Here he was released after a weak start in the second half of the 2006/07 season.

Most recently, the trained crane operator worked as a warehouse manager and lived in Oberhausen. He has been doing this full-time since he was relegated to the third division and only trained after work. He sacrificed his vacation for training camps and weekday games. Nevertheless, he was able to maintain his sporting level up to the Bundesliga.

On March 20, 2013, Puszamszies died after a serious illness at the age of 54.
