Albert Masnata (born March 16, 1900 in Odessa , † September 30, 1983 in Pully ) was a Swiss economist .

biography

His parents were the bank clerk Paul Charles Henri and Isabelle born. Leoncini. The family immigrated from Genoa in 1848 . He studied economics at the University of Lausanne , acquired in 1920 the licentiate and doctorate in 1924. In 1933 he received his PhD in Social and Political Science. He married Irène, the daughter of Charles Krafft .

As a specialist in pricing policy and international trade as well as economic systems , he was a private lecturer at the University of Lausanne from 1937 to 1966 and then a lecturer .

From 1927 to 1966 he was director of the Lausanne branch of the Swiss Center for Trade Promotion . In 1967 he was a consultant at the International Trade Center of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the GATT . In 1928 he was President of the Fédération romande de publicité and a founding member of the Association of Swiss Advertising Companies and 1938–41 President of the Swiss Film Chamber . From 1937 to 1941 he was a member of the Liberal Council on the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud . In 1979 he was made an officer of the Legion of Honor .
