Albert Meyer (born March 31, 1926 in Schweinfurt ) is a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

Meyer was born the son of a general practitioner. After attending primary school and high school in Schweinfurt , he first became an air force helper in 1943, then did Reich labor service and finally took part in World War II as a soldier until 1945 , most recently as a non-commissioned officer. In 1946 he began studying economics and law at the University of Erlangen , which he completed in 1954 with the second state examination in law. A year later he joined the Bavarian financial administration as a financial assessor. From 1963 to 1970 he was government director and head of the tax office in Zeil am Main .

Political party

Meyer joined the CSU in 1956, joined the Junge Union (JU) and was district chairman of the JU Lower Franconia from 1961 to 1966 . From 1967 to 1971 he acted as chairman of the CSU district association Haßfurt , from 1971 to 1993 as chairman of the CSU district association of Lower Franconia.

MP

Meyer was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 1966 to 1998 and there from 1972 to 1974 deputy chairman of the CSU parliamentary group.

Public offices

Meyer served from November 12, 1974 to June 17, 1993 as State Secretary in the State Ministry of Finance in the governments of the Free State of Bavaria led by Prime Ministers Alfons Goppel , Franz Josef Strauss and Max Streibl .
