Albert Stoeckl

Albert Stöckl (born March 15, 1823 in Möhren , † November 15, 1895 in Eichstätt ) was a German Catholic clergyman, professor, politician and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Stoeckl was the son of a teacher and his studies at the Royal High School and at the Episcopal Academy in Eichstätt and in 1855 from the Faculty of Philosophy University of Würzburg Dr. phil. PhD . He was ordained a priest in 1848 and initially worked as a pilgrimage priest in Wemding for two years . In 1852 he became professor of philosophy at the episcopal academy in Eichstätt. In 1857 he switched to the chair of exegesis. In 1862 he was appointed professor of philosophy at the Royal Prussian Academy in Münster and returned to Eichstätt in 1871, where he was appointed cathedral capitular and resumed his previous professorship. He is the author of several philosophical and educational works. It also contains anti-Jewish views.

Between 1877 and 1881 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the German Center Party and the constituency of Middle Franconia 4 (Eichstätt).
