Alberto Díez de Medina Lertora

Alberto Diez de Medina Lertora (born September 11, 1877 in La Paz , Bolivia ; † December 31, 1932 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) was a Bolivian diplomat and politician who was Bolivia's foreign minister in 1930 .

Life

Diez de Medina Lertora was the son of the essayist , politician and diplomat Federico Díez de Medina , who was Bolivia's foreign minister between 1900 and 1902. He himself also entered the foreign service and between 1907 and 1908 served as chargé d'affaires at the embassy in Brazil . After further assignments, he was Prefect of the Oruro Department from 1913 to 1914 and envoy to Ecuador , Colombia and Venezuela between 1917 and 1919 , before being envoy to Paraguay for some time in 1920 .

In 1923 Diez de Medina Lertora became envoy to Brazil and held this post until 1925, after which he was envoy to Paraguay, Uruguay , Argentina and Peru between 1925 and 1928 . On May 16, 1930 he was appointed Foreign Minister of Bolivia by President Hernando Siles Reyes to succeed Rafael Torrico Lemoine and held this ministerial office until he was replaced by Filiberto R. Osorio Tellez on June 29, 1930.

His younger brother was the writer and diplomat Eduardo Díez de Medina Lertora , who was Bolivia's foreign minister from 1923, 1925 to 1926 and 1937 to 1939.
