Alberto Frederico Etges
Alberto Frederico Etges (born July 11, 1910 in Santa Cruz do Sul ; † January 8, 1996 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul .
Life
Alberto Frederico Etges was ordained a priest on April 20, 1935 .
Pope John XXIII appointed him on August 1, 1959 first bishop of the newly established diocese of Santa Cruz do Sul . The Archbishop of Porto Alegre , Alfredo Vicente Scherer , donated him episcopal ordination on October 25th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Luiz Felipe de Nadal , Bishop of Uruguaiana , and Edmundo Luís Kunz , Auxiliary Bishop in Porto Alegre.
He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. On June 27, 1986, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
