Alberto Moreira

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alberto Moreira (* 1962 in Sao Jose dos Campos , Brazil) is a from Brazil derived electrical engineer , scientist and inventor in the field of microwaves - remote sensing . Moreira holds 15 patents on radar and antenna systems .

Alberto Moreira is director of the Institute for Radar Technology and High Frequency Systems in Oberpfaffenhofen , which belongs to the German Aerospace Center (DLR). There he is also head of the TanDEM-X mission , which uses two satellites TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X to create a digital three-dimensional map of the globe with an accurate elevation profile for the first time worldwide . The height resolution achieved is accurate to 2 meters, in some areas to 1 meter.

Since 2003 he has held a professorship for microwave remote sensing at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology .

In 2010 Alberto Moreira was President of the Geosciences and Remote Sensing Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers .
