Albertus Verhoesen (also Aelbert Verhoesen , Albert Verhoesen , born June 16, 1806 in Utrecht , † February 24, 1881 there ) was a Dutch landscape , animal and genre painter who also worked as a draftsman, etcher and lithographer.

Verhoesen received his training in the studios of Bruno van Straaten , Jan van Ravenswaay , Pieter Gerardus van Os and Barend C. Koekoeck . Above all the animal painter Van Os (1776–1839), with whom he worked in Hilversum in 1824/25, influenced his style; In addition to cityscapes (such as Kasteel Vredenburg te Utrecht ) and landscapes, his preferred motifs included small groups of animals, mostly poultry.

Verhoesen worked as a painter, draftsman, etcher and lithographer in Utrecht, Hilversum (1824–1826), Utrecht, Amersfoort (1834–1853) and again in Utrecht until his death. He was active in the genre of painting of poultry, which was popular at the time, and thus continued a long tradition in Dutch and Flemish art. His paintings are exhibited in museums in Utrecht and Harlem. Verhoesen was friends with Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803–1862), the important landscape painter of the Dutch Romanticism .
