Albrecht Buschmann

Albrecht Buschmann (* 1964 ) is a German Romance studies and literary translator .

Life

Albrecht Buschmann studied Romance Studies and Islamic Studies at Saarbrücken University as well as in Granada and Paris. From 1991 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Saarbrücken and from 1993 at the University of Potsdam . In 2003 he received his doctorate in philosophy with a thesis on the sociology of literature . After completing his habilitation in 2009 , he was appointed professor for Spanish and Italian literary studies at the University of Rostock in 2010 .

In addition to his teaching and research activities in Romance studies , Buschmann was one of the co-founders of the Internet platform "romanistik.de"; from 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the editorial board of Zibaldone magazine . In addition , he translated - mostly together with the translator and author Stefanie Gerhold - a number of works by the Spanish author Max Aub into German . In 2003, Buschmann and Gerhold received the translation prize of the Spanish Embassy in Germany for their translation of Aub's novel Bittere Mandeln .
