Stefanie Gerhold

Stefanie Gerhold (* 1967 in Munich ) is a German literary translator .

Life

Stefanie Gerhold studied Romance studies in Munich. She has been working as a freelance translator and author since 1997 .

Stefanie Gerhold translates literary texts by Spanish and Latin American authors; She is best known for her translations of the works of Max Aub , Elsa Osorio , Antonio Skármeta and Jordi Galceran into German .

Awards

• 1997: "Translation Prize of the Spanish Embassy" in the budding translator category , for the translation of Gustavo Martín Garzo, The Little Legacy
• 2003: "Translator Prize of the Spanish Embassy" in the category of experienced translators , for the translation of Max Aub's "Bitter Almonds" (with Albrecht Buschmann )
