Albrecht Groezinger

Albrecht Grözinger (born May 25, 1949 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a Protestant pastor and professor for practical theology at the theological faculty of the University of Basel .

After studying Protestant theology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , Albrecht Grözinger started a vicariate in Stuttgart and in Ötlingen (district of Kirchheim unter Teck ). In 1978 he received his doctorate in theology in Mainz with the dissertation Friedrich Naumann as a speaker: a contribution to the current homiletic-rhetorical discussion . Then Grözinger became a repetitionist at the Evangelical Monastery in Tübingen . After working as an assistant at the University of Mainz with Gert Otto , he completed his habilitation in 1986 in the subject of practical theology; at the same time he was appointed university professor. This was followed by a period of teaching at the universities of Mainz, Heidelberg and Basel. Grözinger is also pastor of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .

Teaching activity as a university professor

From 1993 to 1997 Grözinger was a professor for practical theology (chair) at the Church University of Wuppertal . Since April 1997, Grözinger has been full professor of practical theology at the University of Basel. Grözinger is also President of the International Societas Homiletica and managing editor of the journal Practical Theology .

Research priorities

Grözinger's research focuses on the fundamental questions of practical theology. Grözinger also deals with topics of theological aesthetics and homiletics . The question of religion and church in multicultural societies is Grözinger's academic interest.
