Albrecht Count von Rechberg

Albrecht Graf von Rechberg and Rothenlöwen zu Hohenrechberg (born September 23, 1920 in Schräbsdorf , Frankenstein district , Lower Silesia ; † May 30, 2013 in Munich ) was a German lawyer who headed the Bavarian Malteser Auxiliary Service for many years and was Vice President of the Maltese relief service in Germany.

Life

The ancestors of Rechbergs come from the Swabian noble family of Rechberg and Rothenlöwen . He himself was born a year after the nobility predicates that became part of the name were abolished.

His parents were Wolfgang Graf von Rechberg and Rothenlöwen zu Hohenrechberg (1883–1971) and Maria Franziska Countess Strachwitz von Groß-Zauche and Camminetz (1896–1974). He was the second of five children. His eldest brother Friedrich-Ernst (1919–1965) and his youngest sister Elisabeth (1930–1999) have already died.

In February 1951 he submitted his doctoral thesis to the Law Faculty of the University of Munich and later became head of the legal department of the Bayerische Vereinsbank .

Since 1962 he was married to Freude-Marie Freiin Varnbuler von und zu Hemmingen (* 1931), the youngest of three children of Max Heinrich Freiherr Varnbuler von and zu Hemmingen (1889–1972) and Ellen Hoesch (1900-?), With whom he had three children Ulrich (* 1962), Maria Katharina (1964–1978) and Thomas (* 1967). His daughter died as a result of an avalanche accident in Klosters .

Von Rechberg was obedience Grand Cross Knight of the Sovereign Order of Malta and volunteered for the Maltese Auxiliary Service in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising , long-time diocesan director from March 25, 1961 to February 28, 1994, regional representative in Bavaria and from 1980 to 1988 Vice-President of the Maltese Auxiliary Service in Germany.

He wrote poems that were set to music by Adolph Kurt Böhm .

Dr. Albrecht Graf von Rechberg died on May 30, 2013 and was buried on June 14, 2013 in the family cemetery in Oberelkofen .
