Albrecht von Stotzingen , full name Albrecht Wilhelm Ernst Gabriel Maria Freiherr von Stotzingen (born October 21, 1864 in Donzdorf , Kingdom of Württemberg ; † May 29, 1938 in Steißlingen ) was a German baron and member of the First Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly .

biography

He came from the Swabian noble family von Stotzingen and was the son of Roderich von Stotzingen (1822-1893) and his wife Caroline Marie Countess von Rechberg and Rothenlöwen zu Hohenrechberg (1842-1926).

Albrecht von Stotzingen studied law and received his doctorate in this subject. He was lord of the Steißlingen estate, chamberlain for the Grand Duke of Baden and, since his father's death in 1893, a member of the First Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly. As a committed Catholic, he also represented Catholic interests here. In 1903, at the German Catholic Day in Cologne , Stotzingen acted as vice-president of the event. The baron held the dignity of a Knight of Honor of the Sovereign Order of Malta .

He was married to Elisabeth Sophie Countess von Rechberg and Rothenlöwen zu Hohenrechberg (1875–1956), the couple had several children.

Albrecht von Stotzingen's younger brother Fidelis von Stotzingen (1871–1947) was a Benedictine and 1901–1913 abbot of the Maria Laach monastery ; from 1913 to 1947 he was the Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation (head of all Benedictines worldwide).
