The Alde Gott Winzer Schwarzwald eG was founded in 1948 in Sasbachwalden in the Ortenau region and belongs to the Baden wine-growing region . Today it has 380 winegrowers who cultivate 266 hectares of vines. Alde Gott Winzer eG is managed by managing director Günter Lehmann, cellar master Michael Huber is responsible for winemaking .

In 1970 the wine cooperative was expanded with the Alde Gott Edelbrände Schwarzwald eG , to which 329 members belong.

Wines

The most widely grown grape variety of Alde Gott is the Blue Pinot Noir , which planted around 55% of the vineyard area. The remaining areas belong to the white grape varieties Pinot Gris , Riesling and Müller-Thurgau . Smaller plots are planted with Pinot Blanc , Sauvignon Blanc , Scheurebe and Gewürztraminer . The vines grow on weathered granite soils which are less common in German Weibau areas. All in all, white granite wines are finer and richer in finesse, while the red granite wines are usually available earlier and also have good aging potential. The total annual production is an average yield of 60 liters / are and a harvest of around 1.8 million liters of wine. All grapes are grown in six different locations, all of which belong to the Alde Gott area. The storage capacity of Alde Gott Winzer Schwarzwald eG is 5 million liters (of which 4 million liters in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks).

Brandies

The fruits for the fine brandies thrive in the area around Sasbachwalden . According to an old tradition, the local fruit, which partly also consists of wild collections, is distilled by the farmers in their small home distilleries. The oldest distilling rights go back to the 18th century. In the cooperative, the fine brandies are refined during the several years of storage and brought to the highest maturity. Depending on processing, maturation time and storage, mild or strong spirits are created. Then the precious volumes are bottled, equipped and marketed. Most brandies are in the range between 38 and 42% alcohol. Converted to 100% alcohol, around 180,000 liters of pure alcohol are marketed annually. In addition to the classics such as kirsch (alone makes up about 40%), plum brandy , Williams-Christ pear brandy or Jerusalem artichoke, there are also more unusual brandies. Special specialties of Alde Gott Edelbrände Schwarzwald eG are z. B. brandies matured in wooden barrels, wild cherries, wild plums (also called zibärtl) or whiskey and egg liqueur .

history

Alde God wayside shrine

“The alde God is still alive!” This redeeming exclamation from a man at the end of the 30-year war at the sight of another survivor has given this vineyard its name. Today a stone wayside shrine between Sasbachwalden and Obersasbach, entwined with wine, reminds of this event. However, viticulture was practiced earlier in this area. This is documented by the award of wine justice in 1601.
